Molle or the Chilean pepper tree provides edible fruits similar to black peppercorns but bright red in color and highly fragrant. It is widely used as a culinary herb, first in its Andean native range and now throughout the world. Its essential oil is aromatically complex and enjoyed both in diffusers, and in a carrier oil for massages for sore muscles.

About the Plant: A relatively small evergreen Andean tree, molle is dioecious, meaning it has male and female plant parts on separate trees. It is a member of the botanical family Anacardiaceae, along with mangos and cashews. Native to Andean valleys, it is now found growing as an ornamental in many parts of the tropics and subtropics.
