Mandarin petitgrain essential oil is made from the young, light green shoots, leaves, and unripe fruits of the familiar mandarin orange. It is a bright and uplifting scent.

About the Plant: Mandarin orange is actually a separate citrus species altogether from orange, and is one of the ancestral species of the genus Citrus. It is likely native to Southeast Asia and Southern China, but has been grown around the world for hundreds of years. Jungle-hardy varieties have been grown in the Peruvian Amazon since soon after the Conquest.
